What does being grounded have to do with your computer problem?

Open the case and reconnect/reseat all cables/cards. Check for visibile damage. If that doesn't work, remove unnecessary components one by one to see if something died.

Yes, best answer from what you have described lemiwinks1. Can you give some more details how do you find your computer dead?

System specs would be useful to (brand and model of everything), and what does it do when you try to turn it on?

well i wish i had a manufacturer/model but its custom built

k here goes i will put an * in front of my most likley dead parts and an ** next to the one i think is screwed up ok? this will probably help quite a bit

*athlon XP 2800+ barton CPU

*Foxconn 600A01-6LRS mobo

**rosewill 512mb ddr400 ram model # RW400/512

some maxtor 20gig Hdd definatly not the problem

*genuin ATi Radion 7000 series 64Mb vmem AGP vid card

ANTECH 300 Wat Power suply

quantum fireball secondary 3 gig HDD

sound blaster live audio card

when i try to boot absoloutley nothing happens no sound nothing its as if i tried to turn on the computer with the power cord unplugged(which unfortunatley is not the case)

absoloutly everything is corectly connected properly

all HDDs are IDE 333

does this help

sory i was so brief on the first post i was at school and almost late for class i still have my perfect attendance record 8)

Is your motherboard getting connection? Open up the case and try to boot and see whether there is any light in the board. If not, it may be due to the wrong or loose connection from psu. Can't give any more idea as it is related to hardware.

Have you tried another power cable and/or outlet? Maybe you popped a breaker...

but i think i have found out the problem

i am using a 300 wat powersuply and an athlon xp 2800+ is supposed to use a 350wat or higher supply and it probably has been running the 300 for so long that it probably just cant kick it on anymore

thanks for all the help
