Most software is never free, not to mention the load it can put on your CPU, most routers (4 port wired) would run you about 30 bucks, even less if you look to the Sunday ads...

Two thoughts,
One: If your trying to hide your IP for non endorsed matters, ie sending viri and malicious matters...I can't help you, not too many will.
Two: If your trying to hide it to secure yourself, using a router with SPI and or NAT enabled will be sufficient to protect your computer, as long as you have:
A. Changed the admin password
B. Not given the name of your computer/network out to anyone
C. Are not sharing any applications ie AIM, filesharing, etc...

What I do is to use a NAT enabled routher with SPI running on a wireless network with an access point of four computers for home use. I also have the security (WEP) enabled to keep nosy neighbors out. I do not use filesharing products, once that happens you allow a hole in your security

Maybe letting people know "Why" or "What" you need specifically could help them point you in the right direction...

No. Your machine's IP is what identifies it to external systems. Your ISP will assign you an IP (static or DHCP, either way, you're ISP has assigned it to you). This you can't change, or you ISP will lose track of you. The only way around that is to NAT on your local network (then, you're router will still have the IP assigned by the ISP, with defeats the purpose of hiding your IP from outside sources) or you can use a proxy to change your IP on its way out as seen from the destination server you're making requests of.

The thing is, the remote server has to know a valid IP for you, or it won't be able to send responses back to you, and valid IPs have to be properly assigned throughout the path you took. So, if this is the path:

Your Machine -> Router A -> Router B -> Destination.

A B and Destination, all three must agree on what your IP is, or the packets will be lost.

So, your only option, to actually eliminate the effective traceback is to use a proxy:

Your Machine -> Proxy -> Router A -> Router B -> Destination.

This way, A, B and Desitination think your IP is X (they all agree it's X) but the Proxy knows it's really Y.

For better protection, you can proxy hop, but that's something that isn't appropriate for these forums, so I won't get into that. =]

Here is an idea why don't you actually pay for stuff instead of stealing it from these file sharing programs. Then you won't have to worry about trying to hide things.

My friend has a program that his dad got from the company he works for, which will be kept a secret. He told me that 'VM Ware' is like a "Virtual Computer" and its a program installed in your computer, he uses it mainly because of spyware, but he said it has a different IP address, altogether, than your computer. So I'm just informing you guys of it.

Vm Ware is just a program to run multiple virtual machines/OSs. It wouldn't change your IP address because the physical NIC would have the same MAC across the board in any OS.
