I went over to DSL and am getting an intermittent failure. When my computer boots up it crashes and throws up a blue screen. I watch the icon tray load and it happens every time it gets to loading the Network icon (doesn't actually appear). When the computer restarts it loads up fine and everything is ok. I am puzzled if the problem could be the nic card because this is the first time I'm using it or the modem. Does anyone have any thoughts or things I should be checking to isolate the problem? Thanks for your help. :(

I don't think it's a NIC problem.

Do two things. Open system properties in the control panel, go to advanced, startup and recovery, uncheck automatic restart.

If that doesn't help of it's in already unchecked then:

Open network connections in the control panel and go to the properties of the LAN. Uncheck show icon when connected. Don't let the icon load. Who needs it anyway?
