I was just wondering how you guys monitor your home network traffic if you do?

Do you use software? hardware? or both?

If it's software does it have to be installed on all of the machines you want to monitor?

Thanks for your input.

Sometimes I use Connection Watcher that comes with Ostrosoft Internet Tools. That has to be installed on the machine with the interface you want to watch. You can go with something more complex like Wireshark, which was called Ethereal. There are ways to monitor other connections on the LAN besides the machine where it's installed but it's that easy.

As a side note, I use MJ Registry Wather which locks the registry. It doesn't monitor connections but no Trojans or Viruses can be installed when it's set to reject changes.
