how pc tells the time

hai

i am a new user.i want to know how the pc tells the time.calculating time is a ever running process and batteries in pc can hold time but cant calculate then how it tells. need ur answers.

A PC keeps time with a special module called the real time clock, or RTC. The RTC is usually part of the CMOS and runs even when the PC is turned off, just like you said. As far as I know it is just a quartz oscillator and a counter, working basically like any other digital clock.
