I swapped my old 810MB HDD to 12GB HDD, both IBM travelstar series, and I instlled Windows 98 on another machine. The thing is:

Windows 98 boots from my machine, but when i swapped it into my lappy, it doesn't do anything. No activity whatsoever...it just gives me the plain "24192KB OK" and that's it

What's wrong?

1.) Laptop might not be able to support Hard drives of that size. Look for a bios upgrade.
2.) Make sure it's set to boot from that Hard drive and it finds all the proper Windows boot files.
3.) Installing windows on a drive on one machine that transporting to another doesn't work. Depending ont he circumstances you *MAY* get lucky and it might boot, but sometimes windows goes "none of this hardware fits I'm gonna give up and freeze. "

O_O
I might as well ge an external floppy drive and boot from it to install Windows again

And...the lappy supports the drive as it is being detected, and I can apply tests
