Many of you may have noticed that Intel recently changed their logo. But have any of you noticed that it no longer says "Intel Inside," just says "Intel". Did they change their name from Intel Inside to Intel? Was it because of the Intel Inside can't divide jokes? Lol. Though their new logo looks much nicer :D

The reason the Intel Corporate Logo is now just "Intel" is because they have changed their slogon.

Intel are no longer going by "Intel Inside", their new catch phrase is now "Intel, Leap Ahead".

A few mags are saying this is to try and counter against AMD in that their CPU's are currently beating Intel in both price and performance. Intel on the other hand are saying it was time for change, who knows the real reason.

That is the commercial release of the Intel Quad core, they are showing the new Quad core to a select few people outside of Intel in a few months time from what I have read.

AMD released their plans for Quad cores months back but didn't release details on a mass scale, only a very limited core base was allowed to see the current state of affairs.

As for Intel releasing before AMD, people are speculating they are trying to grasp at straws by releasing first, trying to regain some of their lost pride from being beaten by AMD in most other fields recently.

AMD are better in price, but I think Intel still are way ahead with performance, eventough some say that this is not true. Anyway I have an Intel and it work prety well...saw AMD with better proc and frecv that worked not so well!

Good luck

Intel have higher clock frequencies but are not really doing as well as AMD.

Take two high end CPU's such as the AMD X2 4800 and the Intel Pentium EE 840 for example. Both are Dual Core with the AMD at a stock speed of 2.4GHz [ per core ] and Intel at 3.2GHz [ per core ].

Straight away you see that the Intel CPU's are ahead in clock speeds, but when it actualy comes down to processing, the AMD is the better performer.

For example, take multitasking:

Multi 1
Multi 2

As you can see from those example benchmarks, the AMD beats the Intel in both tests. Anything that can make use of Multi threading the X2 4800 beats its Intel Competitor.

The story for Single Core CPU's is slightly different though, between the AMD FX-57 and Intel Pentium 4 EE, the benchmarks are alot closer although in most tests the FX-57 still outperforms the Intel and even when Intel does beat AMD, AMD is not that far behind.
