Well as the topic says. My USB keyboard stops working when I try to reinstall xp. As soon as the installation comes to the blue screen when you have to choose on which partition you want xp installed, the keyboard (Compaq) stops working.

My computer is a Dell Optiplex 755 and supports only USB keyboards. I've put enable USB controller in the BIOS but without result. The keyboard is completely dead and the little green lights are off. I do not know what else to change in the BIOS.

Any ideas?

My guess is that the temporary drivers that are installed from the CD aren't compatible for some reason. Try a PS2 adapter or keyboard.

Is there any options like "USB keyboard support"?
The problem should be solved by enabling that.
in some cases, the settings in BIOS may allow you to choose whether use BIOS or OS to support USB keyboard/mouse. if so, choose BIOS will do.

hope that may help.

I've searched for every possible option in BIOS but I can't seem to make it work. I have though one xp cd that works with the keyboard, the problem is that the CD is broken and doesn't work entirely.

So one CD works, but is broken, and the other CD doesn't work?

What is different between the two? is one SP1 and the SP2?

Exactly. The one that works is sp2 and the other cd's and rescue dvd's are sp2, sp1 and sp3. It's very odd. What could I change in the BIOS to make the keyboard work, if the cd's i provide won't make the keyboard function?

It is probably a driver issue. You can use the SP1 CD to make a slipstreamed SP2 CD and that should work.

Google for Slipstream SP2 you will find instructions.
