Latitude screen stays black

i have a dell latitude d600 and theres just 1 problem with it, when a shut the laptop when its on, and then open it, the screen stays black. i tried hitting the power button, typing some keys, the FN and SUSPEND/escape (direct DOS keys right?) nothing bring it back. so i have to hold the power button untill it turns off :evil:

any help would be great

Usually laptop "recover from standby" issues are a manufacturer's problem. Check out Dell's support site and see if there are any software updates or patches that resolve this issue.

HoustonIT is correct: Dell's have issues with their recovery from standby. Check for BIOS updates, Firmware updates and driver updates and see if that resolves your issue.
