I almost always use liteon stuff in the computers I build, I have never had any problems, you should contact liteon as you may have a warranty issue.

I have had good luck with TDK in the past, and most recently got a budget Norcent cdrw drive. After a couple firmware issues the Norcent has been working great for about 4 months of above average use.

If you're willing to spend the money then go with HP, but like bgnn said, its definitely worth looking into whats wrong with your 4 month old drive first.[/php]

Try and get your money back if its under warrantee. I have the same issues with my own drive.

I would recommend the LG GSA-4160B as the best value for money at the moment: http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews ... &PageId=22

But if you want reliability I would go for a Sony product - I don’t know if they are any good! Or anything actually made in Japan.

I dont rate Pioneer (my own Pioneer DVD player keeps crashing). Infact alot of my stuff keeps breaking apart from Sony and Canon products.

If you want the best, go with Plextor. Liteon seems to be the best value.
