So I'm about to rearrange a few things in my house, basically taking my office out of my room and sticking it in an actual office space. But while I'm at it, I want to set a few things up to make my home a bit more tech-savvy, and more convenient to both myself and my roommates.
What I'd like is a few suggestions and info from you guys on how I could set up my dream network configuration. It's nothing too complicated (or so I think), but I'm having some trouble getting some good, straight forward information on how to set it up and what hardware I need.
The rundown:
I have 4 computers with the following operating systems:
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
- Windows 7 Home 64-bit
- Windows Vista Home 32-bit
- Windows XP Home
I have the following pripherals that have to do with my network:
- All computers are connected to router via wireless n
- All computers are connected to wireless Kodak ESP5210 printer (wirelessly)
Okay...my dream setup -
- NAS/Media Server with multiple hard-drive capability full of my movie and music collection
- Connect all computers wirelessly to NAS/media server
- Connect television up to NAS/media server wirelessly
Not too complicated, right? I'm perfectly capable of setting up for the first 2 points, the one that scares me is hooking up the NAS to my TV. I think I need a media server, but I really have no clue. Most of what I find hooks up to a computer to create an HTPC, but I don't want to hook up to a computer, I want to hook up to a NAS...any ideas?
