I have an xfi sound card on an XP. Before everything was working fine, but I come home one day and when I boot up I see get Found New Hardware wizard, which fails, and under device manager there's a yellow question mark next to Other Devices -> Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus. So now my mic doesn't work. I've tried uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling the item in device manager, I tried taking the xfi out, booting up, shutting down, putting the xfi back in... but none of this has helped. In the properties at device manager it says: Code 1, device is not configured correctly.

I tested the microphone on my laptop's sound recorder and it works fine, so it's not the microphone. Is there something I am missing?

You can try resetting the BIOS to defaults. If that doesn't work, something may have killed the card. Were there any updates?

At the time when I realized the mic stopped working and when that Audio Device thing kept popping up, there was no update.

I reset the BIOS to default, but it still doesn't work.

I got some suggestions on another site and they said to try another PCI slot, which I did, but I get the same thing. I'm thinking it's physical damage =/
