Hi I'm workin on a monitor problem & here's what it's doin or not doin.
When I turn it on, it comes on for about 5 seconds & it goes right back
off. On the screen it says please check signal.

The plug that goes to the motherboard & sticks out the back might be
bad, so does anyone know where to get one. It is a 15-hole plug that
you plug your monitor cable into & the other end is a 16-hole plug that
plugs into the motherboard.

The screw holes are messed up, so I just hang it out the back so I'm
thinkin a new one might do the trick. I've checked the monitor on some
of my other PC's & it works great so it's not the monitor. If you know
where to get one please let me know.

Make sure one of the pins are not bent on the 15 pin D shaped plug, usually when one is bent you will be missing one or 2 colors. Monitors are so cheap now days that being the case of most CRT monitor's. In my junk yard I have several monitors and I have had one instance where I was able to replace the cable. Where they plug into the monitor's internal components they are all different according the brand and model.

Umm, if the part that is attached to you rmotherboard is damaged and you don't have a graphics card then you are going to need a new motherboard or a graphics card. Otherwise, have fun splicing your way to a new monitor cable!
