monitor resolution probelm!

So I just got a new monitor. I hooked it up, updated the drivers, and it looked great. I was using it for about a week with no problems whatsoever. I leave for one day and my brother tells me he unplugged my desktop by accident thinking it was the printer cord, and now the monitor wont display over 640x480 resolution with 4 bit color! This sucks really bad.... any help please? I tried all the troubleshooters too.
