After the switch to SP2 i noticed that my monitor no longer registered as "plug and play" in the display options. it is now registered as "default monitor". The HZ and rez maxs are all messed up. How do i get the monitor back to "plug and play" i cant remember how i did it in the first place.

No clue, but the first thing I would do is disconnect it. Plug a different monitor in. Reboot. Disconnect it. Plug the original back in. Reboot.

Most modern monitors also come with an installation disk. Might need to run that again.

I would go and find the correct drivers ! Then install manually.

start ,right click on MY COMPUTER ,properties, hardware tab, monitor,
default monitor, and right click and update drivers from the location were
you downloaded them too.
just hit the ( install from a list or specific location

This is to check what your setting is in your Registry.

Disable or Enable Universal Plug and Play Device Host
Open your registry and find the key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\upnphost]. Set the value of "Start" to "4" to disable the service, or "3" to enable it.

Disable UnPnP Discovery Service
Open your registry and find the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SSDPSRV]. Set the value of "Start" to "4" to disable the service, or "3" to enable it.

Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

my monitor never came with a disc nor can i find the drivers for it because its a no-name monitor so all i have going for me is figuring out how to change it back to plug and play. i will try a differenet monitor then plug my old one back in. my plug and play service is on.

i believe... this is just a guess that i have a Tatung C7 17" CRT Monitor. i found 2 drivers for it on that first link you sent... so i was reluctant to get either one. Plus it doesnt realy look like a trust worthy site :?

here's what you do ,download Unknown Device Identifier,
it's 824kb (small) then run it ,click on the monitor,in
the utility after it stops ,and click the driver tab at the top of the utility, and it will go after the drivers for you on the internet.
