Is it safe to power up a Power Supply with the following connected?

Hardware, SATA to motherboard

Motherboard having no processor?

My power supply popped but I am not sure if the motherboard could get damaged of this.

What would be the point of powering up, if you have no processor?

Why not just power on the PSU without anything connected?

I don't know if this is what you are going for, but I've powered on a pc with nothing but the hard drives connected for power, and wired the IDE cables over to another pc to access information. So I see nothing wrong with it.

However, what is your intended use?

My guess is that it will fail the POST & beep at you just like it would if there was a bad processor in the board.
Strong with this one, the sudo is.
