what operating system are you using???
if its xp just restart it should pick it up on its own... if not and you want to save time and worry, switch to usb mouse i know for a fact that it will pick it up on its own then.

Make sure it is plugged in. Pull it out and press it firmly back into place. Restart your computer. If it still doesn't detect the mouse, it's probaly time for a new one.

Ok... It was a perfectly (almost new) laser, not cordless mouse, PS/2. I've tried to reboot my system dozen of times, pluging in and out this mouse, didn't work. The PS/2 port seems to work because the mouse was lit up. I switched to the USB mouse and it works now cause it's plug and play. Also I gave my mouse to my friend (switched to USB, which I'm using now) and it works in his computer. The only strange thing I figured was that there was nothing in the hardware properties of the mouse, all the fields were just empty. And the strangest thing is I can't add the mouse there.

I know that, that's why it's so weird.
