i need advice on laptop makers

i need to get a laptop but i am looking at which product is better. Acer laptops is cheaper than HP latops, does acer laptops have their own limitations compared to HP laptops, if their are please let me know. is there any site i can check the users reviews of these laptops.

I would buy HP or Lenovo before Acer. I would also look for a laptop that comes with XP and not Vista. I removed Vista from my Lenovo and put FreeBSD on it but that's another story.

How about a Mac Pro? or just a MacBook? i have read on other posts that say "when you need to focus on productivity, and not on tweaking the PC, then Mac would be it". Cost is another story, tho.
My beer's getting crunched again ... I need an app that'll keep this darn CD tray open!!!

I have no experience with Macs. The only thing I know about them is, they cost more.
