need a free cisco router sim

anyone know where to get one free? its for a friend I'm not familiar with cisco at all, but i'd like to get him a nice good working copy with all the features a real router would have. any tips? i've googled it but didnt find any useful ones

buy a router 2500 or 2000 in ebay, they cost about $50.00 and also a serial db-9 cable which will attach on one end to your serial port on your pc and on the other end to the console rj-45 port, that is the best way to get hands on practice. you would use hyperterminal to start the connection.

I agree, David, that would be the best hands on experience but i dont think he has the money to play with like that. I'll recommend that to him and see what he says

Just wondering if you ever found what you were looking for. If not, have you tried Packet Tracer 3.2? the commands are limited, but it's not so bad for a beginer i guess.
