Need help with network connection

hi can any body help me i have two pc with both windows xp runing two network adapters(cards) with the same type ethernet

40 meter RJ45 creped cable i tryed to make a network b/n them i see pluged 100mb/s i runed Network Setup Wizard on both the pcs but i can't share files i can't chat do you think it is b/c of the length of the cable ? help any thing?

Ethernet is good to 100m, so thats not it. Did you terminate the connectors correctly? (A standard on one end, B standard on the other)

i don't now mach about networking. Is it about the RJ45 crimping when you say crossover cable can you show me how
