Im at my wits end. Im on my second card and my system still fails to even recognize new hardware when i plug the tuner card into the pci-e 1x slots. Anybody know of any windows or bios fixes. I have an AOpen nCK804Ua-LFS.

It only needs plugging into a a pci slot and not a pci-e.

POWERCOLOR T55E

I've never heard of a TV Tuner needing or even wanting PCI Express... seems kind of overkill. But then I read up on it: "POWERCOLOR T55E-P03 PCI-Express x1 Interface TV tuner card"

So my attention, next, went to the motherboard and BIOS settings.

http://global.aopen.com.tw/products/mb/nCK804Ua-LFS.htm

Make sure you have the latest BIOS installed, then check beep codes.

Code: [ Select ]
1 short(Beep) System booting is normally.
1 long - 1 short(Beep) DRAM ERROR
1 long - 2 short(Beep) Display card or monitor connected
1 long - 3 short(Beep) Keyboard Error
Long(Beep) continuous DRAM hasn't inset correctly.
  1. 1 short(Beep) System booting is normally.
  2. 1 long - 1 short(Beep) DRAM ERROR
  3. 1 long - 2 short(Beep) Display card or monitor connected
  4. 1 long - 3 short(Beep) Keyboard Error
  5. Long(Beep) continuous DRAM hasn't inset correctly.

Also: you should install the TV tuner in the slot farthest from the Graphics Card slot.

Note that in your motherboard's instruction manual, on page 20, it incorrectly denotes that the PCI 1x slots are between the PCIE x16 and traditional PCI slots.

I don't have this motherboard so I can't go through the BIOS to find the options, but probably under "Advanced Chipset Features" you will find something for your PCI 1x slots, setting them to "enabled / disabled" - and they may be disabled by default to conserve power or something.

Oops didn't see that, I was having a slow day when I wrote that reply :?

Anyway, yea I've never seen a tuner card needing PCI-E before but you learn something new everyday I suppose.

Have you installed the software that came with the card because that probably will come with drivers for you card. This could make windows recognize it because ive had hardware before that windows would not find until the software cd had been installed.

Indeed it is for PCI-E 1X, that is why I purchased mine! :)

Can someone help me with my topic if they have time:

I'm still having problems with mine.
