overclocking processer

i am thinking of getting a amd athlon xp 3000 for 162
but woundingering if i could just get a amb athlong xp 2500 or 2600
and just overclock it to run around a 3000 (2.1ghz) and save 50-60 bucks good idea?

BTW how do u overclock ur procceser :oops: .lol

'Google overclocking' but proceed with care. and some sellers already have done the job for you.

when you overclock your going to creat more heat so the 50-60 dollars your going to save will have to be spent on cooling. . . . that said overclocking is really only good when your processor gains a little age and you wanna get it to catch up or for gaming freaks who want the extra umph . . but its not a good way to save money. what you wanna do is a small overclock so might get away with it on some good air cooling say about 50 + dollars on a good heat pipe heat sink and some fans, if not youll have to shell out a good 200 on water cooling
