Post 3+ Months Ago

My computer keeps overheating whenever I play about 30 mins of Battlefield 2. After, when I go into bios, the temperature is in the 60's.

I have:
AMD Athlon 64 FX55
ASUS EN6800Ultra 256mb SLId
x2 Corsair TwinX XMS PC3200CP
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
PC Power & Cooling 510 Express
DVD Burner
1 Hard drive
1 Soundcard

Default Air Cooling.

And also, my voltages are not steady, they are all over the place. How can I fix that in BIOS?

Unstable voltages are a sign of a cheap or bad power supply. There is nothing software related you can do to fix this. If the voltages are out of tolerance, this may also be why your system is overheating. Excess voltage created excess heat.

Well, my PSU definatly is not cheap. Should I be able to trust ASUS Probe 100%? Is there any software you would recommend more/less to read the voltages?

I have a 2800 Barton in the other room. "Cool'n'Quiet" is what I enabled to make it cool and quiet, but to make it even more cool and quiet, I lowered my voltages so that they are low, but still safe. I am not quite sure if NF2 works w/ "Cool'n'Quiet"

Do it in the bios, not that speedtune crapware.

But that doesn't change the fact that you have a system running in a laundry basket! I would have at least used an old wine cooler. :-D

A kid your age saying he/she doesn't drink is like Angelina Jolie saying that she's an abstaining virgin.

.... or a NJ politician saying he's not a crook.

my friends computer keeps shutting down as well...
i know exactly why it does it, 3 capacitors on his mobo are blown to hell [pardonne mon francais] and his proc keeps going to 120 degrees [centigrade!!!!!!]
however, this older guy who gets him free parts keeps saying its the psu and i dont want to start anything but in my mind i was like "I would like to drive a 3 inch nail into your eye using an airgun!"
i know that the psu is crappy and that it does short out, but thats not the reason the compy is shutting down. but whatever, he'll get a new kickass computer, screw it over in a week [likes to OC with no proper cooling, built it himself..wires are everywhere, got one of those transformers cases and its got crappy airflow] and ill be back telling him where he went wrong...
its all good :P
