Hey,

I've purchased a new WD Passport essential 500Gb for backup purpose and stored most of my critical office data in it. And due to space limitations had to remove data from primary source. Saw that upgrade is available, upgraded the firmware is and the drive stopped working at all. Not appearing in my computer, not in device manager and not even in disk management. The only good thing is that its running and light indicator is on.

I'm madly stuck with it now, is it any way i can get it working back to normal or any way i can get my data out.

Please help me out, its urgent and critical....

Thanks and warm regards.

I hope you realize that once you removed the data from it's primary source, the concept of a backup was lost.

Anyway, have you tried to connect the drive to another PC? I would also contact WD.

It sounds like the drive is gone. Try a restore point on the PC to get back your files.
