Hey guys, one of my friends has a Intel 865 GVHZ mobo, its with integrated graphics controller (Intel Extreme Graphics 2),
can you recommend a good PCI (not PCIe) graphics card for that? As good as for NFS Carbon.

Is there any way to have an external AGP or PCI slot? Like an external hard-disk?

I have never heard such a thing (external AGP slot) but the best idea is to change the mobo for best upgrade options.

upgrading the mobo would definitely be the best idea. all of the PCI cards out there are nothing in comparison to the performance of PCI-E. PCI cards were just not meant for modern games..
although surprising as it may be, i was able to play NFS:MW on an nvidia geforce mx4000 128mb card, even though the graphics sucks @$$ because it could only do DX7. but if your friend REALLY didn't want to upgrade the mobo, you could always go for like.. an ATi x1300 like this one..

He finally decided to change the mobo. So what I need is a suggestion for better (not best, as he's not going to rely much on desktop) motherboard. It will be used to run high resource consuming programs like NetBeans, Dreamweaver and playing games like NFS Carbon.
I guess issues like this have been discussed here before many a times, please give me the links if so.
Thanks.

do you want a motherboard suggestion and not a video card?
also, if you dont want to be forced to upgrade all of the internals you'll need a motherboard compatible with your friends current cpu and ram. the power supply should be good enough to power the new motherboard given its compatible with the previous components but depending on the new video card, it may need a boost.

Yes, motherboard first, coz I also think that will help me get better GPU options. The processor is Intel Pentium 4 (Prescott) 3.0 GHz HyperThreading.
And for the PSU info I have to ask him. Well thanks for reminding that part.
