Printer not printing

i was asked a question today a friend has a printer Epson C somthing but had not used it for a few months. he replaced the ink and installed it on his computer every thing gos through and it tryes to print but no ink is put on to the paper! an idea how i can solve this?

Did he make sure to remove all of the tape and stuff usually attached to the cartridges?

The nozzles probably dried up...clean it with alcohol
