Hi,

I'm in a bit of a difficult situation... The person before me archived a few jobs onto a cd. The cd consists of word and excel files. I can open some files but most of them won't open. I get an error message if i try to copy the files from the cd. It says "error copying file or folder, Cannot read from the source file or disk."

When I explore the cd i can see the files along with their file size. Does anyone have any ideas? Are they any recovery tools i can use.

thanks,

You are having trouble reading them from the disc or copying them from the disc ?

You said you were trying to read them but your error message refers to copying.

How were the files archived? Were they just burned onto a cd or was a backup program used?

Try copying from the cd on a few different computers.

Since you tried it on multiple machines, the CD is more than likely trash. Either it was physically damaged, or was never burnt right in the first place.
