My question is that i want to sell my computer and i would like to delete my hard drive, i dont have the original disc that came with this computer, could someone please tell me how to delete my hardrive or what i should do?

firstly... you bought a new computer because you had spyware and virues?

all you needed to do was reformat...but then again you dont have the cds...just before you reformat... find out all your hardwares names and download the drivers off the internet and on a cd...or at least just the mobo driver just for the internet to work if its onboard. then you can download all the drivers.

you oviusly need thw windows xp cd or win98se.

if you dont have nothing like no cds or disks then your messed up.

Just format your hard drive:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=3133 ... 0121120120

BTW, why did you buy a new computer just because you had spyware on it? Simply running some anti-spyware and anti-virus programs would take care of the problem. And in the rare situation in which that failed, you could just format and re-install Windows.

Buying a whole machine just for a spyware/virus problem is a bit extreme ... just buying a new HDD would have done if the worst came to the worst. Oh well, each to their own !

Do as TomK suggested, slap in the XP installation disk and follow the prompts to format and install Windows.

Also look into the links below :
Free Virus Scanner
Free Spyware Remover
BlackIce Firewall
ZoneAlarm Firwall

Perhaps they will save you some hassle and money next time.

If you don't have an O/S disc then yes you will need to obtain one somehow.

There are several good wipe utilities out on the internet...DBAN is a good one for single pass DOD wipes.

BTW...Where were you going on the internet that infected your box that badly that you felt you needed to replace it? The only sites that I know of that do that are the ones that offer up xxx stuff.

Wait...it is an eMachine...that comes preloaded with a self propagating macro virus that spews out spyware to clog your HDD...:)

Just messing with you grasshopper :P
