Hi guys
May be this is a dump question, but I would like to know your opinions. Does formatting damage hard drives?

So you suggest when your PC is running slow to just format it? Seems a bit extreme.

The only thing bad about formating is that it pushes your CPU to the absolute maxx it can go (Heats up badly) for my PC's it did)

Defragging with an app like DiskKeeper or PerfectDisk will keep you running nice and smooth as well. No sense in formatting. Unless your constatnly downloading new things, moving files, deleting files you shouldn't get that sluggish. Keeping your PC free of spyware and other nasties help as well.

But I find something rare after formatting. After the first 3 formatting times, I found it really faster. However, from the fourth or fifth time on, I find it slower :?: Normally, after booting on to the desktop, the hard drive light stops flashing inmediately, but now, it continues flashing about another 20 seconds as if it is reading something. Of course, I'm using the same programmes, even less. I'm using a laptop, may that be the problem?
