Do you know anyone else who has a dell ac adapter that you can use as a test?

Have you tried taking the battery out completely and trying only AC power? If it comes on, you'll have narrowed it down to a bad battery. If it doesn't come on, it may be either the power cable or possibly the internal power supply.

My sister had this problem on her Dell laptop. What happend is when she presses the power button the light batter sign would show up and then go away. Also the light on the AC adapter would turn off.

Does your light turn off?

If so it might be the motherboard.
