I have a abit nforce 2 motherbaord and I was wondering if it better to marry a GeForce card or if it will behave just as happy with a Radeon 9800 pro I have been tempted to buy due to its current low price?

I have a nforce 2 motherboard, and an ATI Radeon 9700 pro AIW and have never had any problems with it. If you already have the ATI card, don't bother purchasing a new card.

Any agp 8x video card will be compatible with the Nforce 2 chipset !
Shure matching it up with a 6800Ultra would be nice.
But I have never heard anything about an ATI card not working great on them.

Thanks I have overclocked Geforce ti4800se 64MB and stuff like smoke and AF really slows it down. Radeon 9800pro is on sale fore about £125 (about $200 I guess). I have a AMD2800 and 1GB Ram.

Should be a good upgrade?

I checked how it compares on here: http://www20.graphics.tomshardware.com/ ... /20031229/

Yea there's nothing wrong with that card ,but you have to get the correct card ,not the 128mb one but the 256 mb one !

Although the 256MB Radeon 9800 Pro may seem like a sheer waste of money, it may actually turn out to be a real steal! Why? Because one can actually turn the 256MB Radeon 9800 Pro into a 256MB Radeon 9800XT!

If you reflash the 256MB Radeon 9800 Pro with a Radeon 9800XT's BIOS, you unlock its hidden features and the card automatically runs at 412MHz core and 365MHz! Just like any other Radeon 9800XT.

I no it's just a thought ,It's what you can aford ,and still be able to
run the stuff you want to .$ 80 more, but then you end up with a XT
that costs ? what over $400,,lol ,maybe a little less (prices have come down)9800pro256

No I cant afford that

I will be choosing one of theses:

Gainward FX 5900 PowerPack! Ultra/1100XT TV-DVI Golden Sample (stok 460Mhz core) (will overclock to core over 500mhz and mem upto 780mhz !!!! (GB £135)

OR

PowerColor Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB (GB £115) (faster timing ram than normal can not be overclocked and core can but only by about 20Mhz.)

Which one would you buy? I am thinking the radeon with its true 8 pixel pipes would be better for Direct X9 games with AA and AF on.

the 256mb of ram on the 9800pro is useless anyway, for the extra manoy it is not justified.

That is technically true in benchmarks... however they said that about the girlfriend ti4400 64MB vs 128MB but my m8's ti4200 128Ram runs faster than my 64MB ti4400 with games and I even have a faster processor!

Out of those two option in my last post what would buy Nucleo?
