Hi everyone, now that I finally managed to maintain my CPU on workable temp (45C) I'm having another issue: RAM temp.

How hot is it supposed to be??

I have two sets of kingston 512 mb pc3200 400 mhz. One of them gets hot to the touch! I think hits around 60 C.

Does anyone know what the implications will be on the long run? The computer is not lagging or anything...

Maybe is the poor case cooling design? Here goes my system specs:

AMD Athlon 2600 Barton
2x Kingston 512 MB pc3200 with aluminum heat spreader
Thermaltake Silent booster with silver atic 5 heatsink paste
All together living in a siamchee weird budget case

Come to think about it, maybe it is the aluminum covers on my RAM?

Well, anything helps, really ahahah

Thanks!

your ram temp should be fine with the heat spreaders unless you have heavily overclocked your FSB. the aluminum covers hold the heat and spread it so all you need is something to move that heat off, Try putting in another case fan. the long run problem with high heat is that either the ram will stop working or your computer will shutdown in the middle of a full load (this is a built in safety that the P4 has, im not sure if AMD has the same thing tho).

Your temperatures are fine! these kind of things tern into an unnecessary obsession. 45 degrees for a CPU is ridiculously low and you could try overclocking 2800 levels of my PC (I do use a silent type cooler). My CPU runs happy at about 59-61 playing games.

As for Ram its underclocked anyway cos of the fsb is 333 and not 400 mhz.

i advise you getting a extra 2 fans or a water cooling system then you will not hve these problems but as long as it dosent inerferre wiv ur gaming then wots the problem maby jus cos u hve a poor cooling system try underclockin the Ram tht may help your decsion!!
