I have a modem but I don’t have its driver. I’m sure its working because my OS (Win98 SE) has detected it and it can be seen on the Device Manager. Are there sites that have free modem drivers? But first… How would I know what driver would make it work if I don’t know what brand of modem it is? It has some stickers and numbers on it but it doesn’t have its brand name. By the way it is internal. Please I need help… :(

@arthur:
yep modems have drivers. they usually come with a CD installer when you buy one although some works (in WinXP only i suppose) even if you do not install it because the OS already have its driver.

@lucassix:
can i use these numbers and search for my modem's driver online? have you already done that with other hardwares? i'll try it too and inform you about it. thnx!

Have you tried to install it as a standard 33K or 56 K modem ?

You can also go to hyperterminal and try to get info on the modem by typing the following AT commands :

ATIx (x=1-4)
ATLx (x=1-6)

These are i believe the commands that will display info for the Rockwell / multitech based modems (conexant, US Robotics,...) which make up a big part of the market.
