Sata advice? 10000rpm-sata150 vs 7200rpm-sata300

Would a raptor 10,000 on sata 150 be faster than a maxtor or seagate 7200 on sata 300? how do the 2 ratings cross match? I know that sata 300 is a wider bandwith transfer, but dont know about rpms other than the obvious `the faster the better `.Cheers Craig
