well if something was deleted just go to windows update...iif not then find out what your sound card is exactly then go to the homepage for it. more than likely you should fing a driver.

What motherboard are you using??? if you are unable to find the sound card through windows try the addhardware wizard and see if it picke sit up, if not you will more then likely have to open the case to see whether it is onboard or a pci card.

You can try to open the cae and look on the sound card itself. All electronic devices require a FCC ID in the United States. They have a database to search the FCC ID's to find the maker of a certain card. Also using some of the printings on the chipset to figure out which card you have.

I have spent many, many hours trying to find drivers for phantom hardware.

K thanks wildchild, is the motherboard also known as the mainboard? If so then mine is MSI. I'v tried the add hardware and it only picks up some weird SM bus controller that i'v never encoutered till now o.0

Btw: GT5 i dont live in the US, i live in the UK so i dont know if it applies here.

Reinstall your chipset drivers, that will clear up the sm bus controller, this may be why your sound card is not being found also. Yes your motherboard could also be called the mainboard....MSI?? what board???
Unless you installed a pci sound card then the newer boards almost all have onboard sound. Try downloading cpu-z and running it to find out the make and model of your motherboard then check the msi site for the drivers you may need.

You need the drivers for the motherboard. What model MSI board are you using?

Yes download the cpu-z application:

You will see this, this will determine what mainboard/motherboard you have in your system. From this information you will then go to the MSI website find your mainboard, and download the appropriate drivers for your system.
