XP - No Sound

Believe I will need someone to log on my system to resolve this issue.

Well, without any specifics we would be unable to help you. Lets start off from the beginning, just like a paramedic with the SAMPLE-OPQRST questions.

1.) When did this start? Yesterday, last week, it never worked, etc...
2.) Was there an event that triggered this loss of sound? Blue Screen, a big *POP* and a puff of smoke, windows got some updates, etc...
3.) What OS? I see XP. but is it SP1, SP2, SP3? was it reloaded recently?
4.) what kind of PC, homebuilt or 6yr old dell clamshell. if its a homebrew, what motherboard or soundcard does it have?
