i have a set of 5.1 speakers that I am having a few problems with. First of all if they are on and not playing music then there is a constant stream of static. Secondly, and more importantly the FR,FL,BL,BR speakers all work but when sound is supposed to come from the center speaker nothing comes out, and when sound is supposed to come from the sub-woofer it comes out the center speaker.

Thank in advance

Sounds like your center and subwoofer connections are reversed.

Who makes the 5.1 system? Check all the connections. As for the static and you are connected via analog cables (not toslink coax or fiber) then your sound ports are grounding to the case or you have bad wires/loose connection. Also, make sure your PC and your sound system are plugged into a grounded outlet.

If you are connected via toslink, see if the display on the 5.1 system is detecting any digital audio input. Also, if you are using fancy drivers with all the sound field stuff and tons of useless settings - make sure they are configured correctly.

If none of that works, your 5.1 system is FUBAR. Tine for it to be warranty replaced or just replaced in general.
