Pretty much as implied by the title... I have two CD rw drives, and my speakers pick up static from both of them, so if I'm either burning a cd or playing something from one, i get this static sound from my speakers. I dont have this problem with anything else. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Is your volume of your speakers turned up really high on the speakers themselves?

Try getting some of those flat ferrite core casings and attatch them to the IDE cables to your CD drives

If noise from the CD writers is the problem.

I once had the same problem, except only when I moved my mouse I heard static. I replaced the sound card and it went away, so maybe your soundcard is just bad.

If you have any free slots in your comp try taking out the one of the cd drives and moving it to a lower slot maybe that are just causing interfernce between each other. i doubt that would be it but you never know. Another thing could be the sound card drivers. Try those two and if problem persist let us know :D

Static noise is a common problem if you have onboard audio, like the Realtek one... if you have onboard audio, this might be the problem...

hope it helps =)
