I've had this problem with my computer for a long time. Everything works fine and then it seems to stall. The internet won't recieve anything and any programs that you click to start won't. After about a minute it will just start up and do everything you clicked when its stalled. It then works fine for 5-10 minutes until it stalls again. My internet connection is DSL and usually works great, other than the stalls. This extremely pisses off everyone who uses the computer and any help would be appreciated.

It will also do it if i close all programs except explorer and systray in the task manager. I could be a cooling problem but everything is working and it is a stock aptiva from ibm.

Have you added any new components? That could possible be adding a little extra heat. I doubt it was border line but just a thought.

1 thing that i added is a Radeon 8500 but the problem happened before then. I've even reformatted and it does it when ive just installed windows. Guess its time for a new pc.

Erm....Try replacing or testing your ram it sounds like it may have messed up, I would also test the following:

HDD
CPU Temp
Power Supply

And then if it comes to it buy a new pc bit by bit until the piece that didn't work before is detected lol!

What OS are you using? I am surprised nobody has asked this yet....

Windows ME and 98 (SE) tend to do that a lot with slower (under 500mhz) processors.
