I just reformatted a older Windows 98 computer for a friend. Installed the drivers and everything worked great. I mailed him the computer, and now he say's it won't start. He say's the power lights come on for a second, then go out and the computer doesn't start. He says he doesn't hear the fan or hard drive. He say's the monitor light it on though. Any ideas?

have him open up the case and make sure all the cables are plugged in, they might have been jiggled loose in shipping...

On the back of the computer there may be a voltage switch depending on the year and make of the computer. It's red and switches beteen 115 and 220. It's another of those silly ones, but I spent three hours messing with a kids computer once and almost reformatted before I checked that. He had flipped the switch and I was getting the same problem. Depending on where he lives he may need to switch it to the proper voltage.
