Hey everyone.

I have a situation that is a bit interesting. I recently had to format my brothers computer (cuz that kid likes to download anything and everything)....

Now i also had to get a new GC as his one had gone faulty. Once i bought the new one, i had so many issues trying to load Windows on it because the DVD drive wasn't working, and then the HDD wasn't working. I realized that only one will work at a time..... They are both connected to the one IDE cable (its got two connectors), which then connects to the m/b.

Ive tried using a different IDE cable, but that didn't work, and the m/b doesn't have another slot for it.

Neither the HDD or DVD drive are SATA, but they both worked at the same time previously....

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance =)

I think you have to enter the bios and detect ide devices, not sure though. Also, im not sure but do the drives need the right master/slave configurations or is that only for 2 drives of the same type?

Hard drive should be Master and DVD drive needs to be in slave configuration when running off the same cable. It looks like you have both as Master
