Does it have to be enabled in the BIOS?

Check to see if hibernation is enabled in XP.

Open up your Control Panel and then double click Power Options (this assumes you are running your Control Panel in Classic Mode). Click the Hibernation tab and ensure Enable hibernation is checked.

No there isn't.

Did your laptop ever go into hibernate? One other thing to check is missing drivers.

Right click My Computer and select Properties. Click the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button. Make sure everything is normal and you don't have any yellow or red icons on anything.
