It's about that time where I open my wallet and fork out money for something that I think could help my life in ways Ritalin cannot.

Today's little purchase? A PDA! Looked at a laptop, looked at a tablet PC, looked at Lithium prescriptions.... Chose to go with a PDA.

I already have three computers in my room as it is, I don't really need a laptop to bring to work and class, etc... But, my organizational skills border that of Florida after the Hurricanes - Complete and utter chaos.

Let's go with the basics of what I need:
    - Color display
    - Maximum amount of memory possible
    - Storage expansion (sd chips or whatnot)
    - headphone jack (so it can be my MP3 player as well)
    - Wireless (either B or G)
    - Good handwriting recognition for people with chicken scratch writing
    - Under $700 USD bottom line

What I don't really need but could possibly use:
    - GPS with maps (I get lost a lot)
    - Biometric Scanner (keep uncle sam from reading my thoughts!)
    - 40,000v stun gun (I live philly - It comes in handy)
    - Radio scanner (to listen to the police frequency)
    - Car computer interface (to remove that pesky governor limiting my car to 140mph)

The latter list being what I could live without, but would wet my appetite a little more as I am forking over a good chunk of a weeks pay.

One I looked at was the HP iPaq 5555 Pocket PC. But before I go spewing my credit card number on Amazon, I wanted to see what everyone else heard. I don't want to order it and find out later that its a peice of expensive garbage, and it won't recognize my handwriting and all my notes will get mis-translated screwing me up totally.

So what's the story Ozzu? What would y'all suggest?

I'm doing some research, and I'll post other possibles later.

I like the HP iPAQ h1945, GPS, and 128MB SD card value bundle at $500.
It comes with a lot of stuff and it's a good price but I sacrifice a lot of stuff. And a 128mb SD card is a little small.

It also doesn't come with a Desktop cradle, but I can always buy that seperatly. I wouldn't call it a value bundle. Someone at HP has their head up their butt.

Get this:
HP iPAQ h1945 GPS and 128MB SD card value bundle
Leather belt case for iPAQ
USB desktop cradle with battery slot for iPAQ 1900 series
Subtotal: $579.97
Shipping: $52.99
Tax: $0
Grand Total: $632.96

THE HELL WITH HP MAN! I refuse to spend $53 to ship something, I shipped an 80lb monitor with $500 insurance for LESS!!! And thats 5 to 7 day on the PDA. Normally its 3day and its hell of a lot cheaper.

I sent them a nasty letter. Fair market value considering their total cost plus a more than fair profit margin plus a fair shipping and handling would only cost $320. So their product is literally $302.96 overpriced.

Hey another PA ,person .lol I grew up in Boothwyn,UpperChichester, and live in Ridley Park,(work at Boeings Helicopter Plant) we just have to much in common (I see your a fan of the Shelby genre) I have had 5
Mustangs ,and drive (weather permitting) an 11.00 sec ,1991 ,5.0 notch
that has 20,000 miles on it(I have that one for 15 years now ) Someday
i'll get my hands on a Shelby 350,or 500 ...

Anyway enough about that : there is a guy on on HardOCP forum,
that has a very nice bran new Sony P800 he wants $350.00,
I no he will take $300.
Over the last couple of years I have bought a lot of used Electronic Hardware ,off the guys there, and have sold some myself, they are always topnotch. So take a look and see what you think .Save you some
almost half .

And the only reason I say this because .lol I work with people that have
more computer science degress ,than kerry got lies, and HP is a bad word word round these parts with these people(I've never owned any HP stuff )

I'm originally from Jersey, and I ended up in the NW phila suburbs.

Major fan of the gt500 shelby mustangs, been one my entire life. Might buy an '05 GT, throw an '04 s/c cobra motor in it with a 5.4L bottom end from a Navigator. and do the rest up like a gt500, paint it phantom black metalic with navy blue metallic racing stripes. The earliest I can order an 05 GT is in October so we will see.

Anyway, back to the topic here....

Do those come with GPS? That would be the best...

shure they do .
if you had that kind of money (I don't think i would even attempt something like that ) not fesiable, and i'am only saying that because
I consider myself an expert .lol And I'am saying that cause it's true .
I have had a stang sitting in my garage every year since 1972 .
If you wanted to have something nice just wait till 2006 for the next
cobra ,cause there isn't one in 2005 .And no one in there right mind ?
would tear into a 2005 like that .lol maybe 5 years down the road .
wait for the 06 Cobra.

If I make it a show car, I can get a lot of the parts for free, and Ford will even give me a major discount on the car if I make it a show car. Fox Marketing has gotten brand new cars for $1 from the company to work it up.

Back on track so the topic doesn't get rm'd.

I just purchased the Asus MyPal A716 PDA & got a Kingmax SD 512mb card for it.

Trying to look for the add-on GPS reciever for it, but Newegg didn't have it. :-(

And the Asus is better than the HP and shipped it was cheaper than the "value" deal HP msrp.

Methinks HP want's to go out of business with the outragous pricing. They still didn't answer my complaint E-mail. Oh well, I will just have to explain that I got a faster, more powerfull PDA for $300 less than they wanted to bang me. And only $6 to ship it! (hey HP that include handling too!)
