I got my toshiba last week of December 2006, it was working fine for a number of days when one day when i tried to use it, it came up with the message:
"We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this."
(before it goes to this message, there is a half second blue screen which I cannot see what is written)

Then it tells me to use Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking, Safe mode with command prompt or last known or start windows manually and it has a countdown from 30 down.

I tried all options but it will just go back to the Toshiba boot screen.

When i wait for the 30 seconds, there are times that it boots but there are times it doesn't...

When booted though, or let's say the laptop/systems heats up already, i can restart or shut it down and it will work normally....however, when the laptop is rested for more than 15mintues, the same crap happens...

please help, anyone... :( :( :( :?:

The next time you get it to boot, run msconfig and disable everything under the startup tab and don't choose normal startup when asked after reboot.
Before you reboot again, look at the event viewer for clues and the device manager for hardware conflicts.

When you get the Blue Message try hitting the Pause key.

the blue screen shows a code that's relevant to fix the problem; google that code, and you'll find loads of posts, telling you what to do.

If you aren't able to read the blue screen (too fast), try using a digital camera and take a picture of the screen at that point.
