Transferring data to my External HDD Player

Hi everyone..
I have a new HDD Player which I transfer all my movies and TV shows in.. the problem is recently when i try to copy my files there it took me a long time and then i get the I/O device erro.. i tried plugging the usb cable to another computer and didn't get the problem fixed.. and i even tried to change the cable..
That wasn't a cheap HDD Player.

can someone give me a sulotion here

Imation HDD Player with 1.81 TB
(Linux File-Stor Gadget USB Device)
and I'm using a windows XP Labtop
