Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade laptops harddrive from the 5400rpm to 7200rpm. Anyone done this before? Any noticeable gains in performance on a Celeron 1.6M? I already got a quote from http://www.rescuetechusa.com that they will do it for $130.

Thanks,
George

What laptop do you have?

Current HD stock or postmanufacture?

What brand HD are you looking to replace with?
I'd love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

If you want better battery life, use the 5400 rpm drive. Better performance will come with the 7200 rpm drive. Just make sure you get the right type of drive - probably in your case it would be an ATA drive, not a SATA drive.
