Using 3200 ram in a board that supports up to 2700?

I cant find any 2700 ram to buy for my motherboard, but if i use 3200 will it still work properly?

So if im running 3200 (400mhz) ram in a board that supports up to 2700(333mhz), im assuming the 3200 will run at 333mhz?

There is nothing wrong with running PC3200 RAM at PC2700 speeds. However, I find it a stupid thing to do as you are wasting your RAM's potential.

On another note, you should be able to find PC2700 RAM.

I'm not worried about loss of potential or anything like that, just as long as it wont burn the board.

i can always re-use the 3200 ram in my newer systems when i phase out these other systems. Its just i have 2x xp 2400 systems, one of which needs new ram to replace failed stuff. So down the road when i turn my 3200 into a server it'll have extra ram.
