This is the same can of worms as the AMD vs. Intel master-debate

My biased, yet professional opinion is nVidia. nVidia only makes the chipsets however, they do not make the boards for public purchase. They only desing a reference card that they send to the manufacturers to copy and tweak as they see fit. Some good nVidia board makers are XFX, Asus, BFG and Apollo.

Are you talking best on market or value for money?

For computer parts the best of the best manufacturers is usually the best bang per buck. For budget, I would say go for a somewhat older model and steer away from bleeding-edge. That way you have great performance that will probably run well. As for video cards though, they have special budget versions. Like the 6600GT or even the 6200.

I am running a Saphirre Radeon 9500 pro. I find it adequate for playing games such as Battlefield 2 and World of Warcraft. I have had mine for about 2 years. The price is pretty low now, somewhere around the $120.00 CDN mark I reckon.

The 7800 GTX is the best right now, but ATi is going to be coming out with a new line... sooner or later... still waiting...

You get the point.
The 7800 GTX atm out performs most everything (except SLI)
