WesternDigital 640GB hd not recognized in my computer

i recently bought a new hard drive and i connected it to my computer yesterday. when i turned the computer on it did not say anything about finding new hardware. i then tried to add new hardware in the control panel. i have tried to get this thing to register but i am just not able to find it. can anyone help?

Is this an IDE drive or a SATA drive?

If it is IDE you need to check the jumpers and ensure you have it set correctly, either MATSER or SLAVE.

If it is SATA you may need to install SATA drivers for your motherboard.
