What is a good DSL modem?

I have Bellsouth dsl internet, and I have been using the modem they gave us but its slow...and I have been trying to install a router so I have been unplugging and plugging back in the ethernet cable, which evidently broke some of the connections to the circuit board, and now it only works if you hold the cable a certain way. Anyway, the only dsl modem on the BestBuy website is the Siemens one, and I dont know which modem is better.

if you ask me they are pretty much all the same when considering home connections.

i have had a few dsl companies each coming with a new modem - the speeds of the modems are all 8m/bit downrate - i am only on a 1MB connection and each modem has performed the same. when i upgrade to 2MB it will probably be just the same.

if you are on 50:1 rather than 20:1 that might be the reason for the slowness.

I would take my time and read a couple of pages of peoples

thats if you don't want an external modem ( Cleaner )

I have a Westell 2200 (not bad) but next time I would
go PCI .
